I enjoy having the Dodgers in my neighborhood and walk to the games at least fifteen to twenty times a year. They’re a good neighbor and an asset to the community. The new concourse in Centerfield will become home to unique food offerings, kids’ play areas, and installations celebrating Dodger history. Further, the proposed improvements to the Pavilions – which will connect to the main stadium and two new elevators via a bridge – will provide accessibility to these seats, which have never before been made available to fans with disabilities. Additionally, a new sound system will deliver a more sophisticated, directed sound, minimizing spillover outside the stadium. Living next to Dodger Stadium is awe-inspiring. I truly enjoy being in such close proximity to the energy that radiates from Dodger Stadium, especially given the incredible run the team has had in the postseason over the last seven years. For six decades, Dodger baseball has enriched the communities surrounding the ballpark, contributing to the vibrant environment of the neighborhood, while delivering millions of dollars in economic activity. As a neighbor, I am afforded the opportunity to attend games and concerts throughout the season using free tickets from the team. I also appreciate the team’s proactive communications to the neighborhood about game day activities and special events, as well as its commitment to litter removal. Dodger Stadium needs to make the proposed improvements to its facility so it can continue to be a healthy economic driver for this community and the City of Los Angeles. For the aforementioned reasons, I respectfully request that the Los Angeles City Council deny the appeal and support the Dodgers’ request to proceed with its stadium improvements per case number CPC-1999-157-PAD-PA5.
