TERNA: CONSTRUCTION of the NEW 132 Kv ELECTRICAL SUBSTATION in COLLESALVETTI UNDER WAY

TERNA: CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW 132 kV ELECTRICAL SUBSTATION IN COLLESALVETTI UNDER WAY • The new substation will make the local electricity grid safer and more efficient and meet the electricity demand from residential and industrial areas. • Construction of the new infrastructure will be completed in about three and a half years and will have a positive impact on employment in the area. Rome, 27 February 2020 – Terna broke ground for works on the new 132 kV "Collesalvetti" switching station in Guasticce, Tuscany. The new infrastructure, which will connect with the “Livorno Marzocco – Marginone”, “Guasticce – Cascina”, “Guasticce – Pisa P.M.” and “Guasticce – Acciaiolo Livorno" power lines, will make the local electricity network safer and more efficient, reducing network losses and the risk of energy not supplied; it will also allow the increased energy demand to be met, as it is linked to the strong residential and industrial development of the area involved in the project, near the “Amerigo Vespucci” interport in Livorno. The new plant will feature a 132 kV double bus-bar with air-insulated equipment, and is to be built over about 3.5 years and cover over 18,000 m2; the electrical infrastructure will be placed on a support in order to ensure optimal safety in terms of the hydraulic characteristics of the area in question. The construction site for the new substation built by Terna, the company headed by Luigi Ferraris which owns and manages the Italian national electricity grid, will also have a positive impact on employment in the area due to the involvement of around 25 companies, most of which are local and support civil works, with a daily average of 20 people working on site. .
