Big and Rich Bring Really Big Show to St. Leonard Posted by Dick.Myers_Editor On 09/02/2012 “Big” Kenny Alphin and John Rich brought there rousing show to the Toyota Pavilion at St. Leonard VFD Saturday to a much appreciative and large audience. Big and Rich have been together since their first studio album in 2004 but went their separate ways in 2008 only to be reunited last year. The duo’s several hour set included everything from an extended, raucous version of their first hit ”Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” to a patriotic rendition of a cut from their fourth album “Hillbilly Jedi” due out September 18th. Before becoming Big and Rich John Rich was founding member of the band “Lonestar” and performed solo and Big Kenny was also a solo artist. Big and Rich were joined on stage by several members of the Armed Forces, who joined them for a toast to all service members and veterans. And Big Kenny also took the time to note the location of the pavilion and praised volunteer first responders, much to the delight of the many fire department volunteers to help make the concerts a success. They also were joined on stage by their buddy, Cowboy Troy, who has recorded with them on occasion and performs with them often. He stands 6’ 5” and is one of only a handful of African American country artists. He is perhaps best known for being the host of “Nashville Star.” The rousing conclusion to their appearance might have made a rock band blush, what with setting fire to one guitar and smashing two. Kenny, who bring energy and an engaging personality to the somewhat laid back John Rich, then ripped off his shirt, wrung out the perspiration from playing on a very humid Southern Maryland night, and tossed it into the audience to the squeals of many of the females in attendance. The National Anthem was performed by Tiffany Crayle of Lusby and introductions were handled by Frank Dawson of WKIK. Copyright © 2021 thebaynet.com. All rights reserved. Page 1.
