The subcourse is designed to provide the student with information about the operation, malfunction diagnosis, maintenance,and repair of wheeled vehicle electrical systems. It provides the basictheory, and also includes on-the-job task assignments. The subcourse is divided into eight lessons covering the following topics: introduction to automotive electricity; automotivebatteries; fundamentals of electrical testing equipment; generatingsystems; cranking systems; introduction to ignitionsystems; repair of ignition systems; and electrical systems. Eachlesson contains / objectives, text, task assignments, and review exercises.Answers for the exercises are provided after the final lesson, along withan examination and application task test. This subcourse is designedfor student self-study, but could be used in smallgroup learning situations. The purpose of disseminating these courses was to make curriculum materials developed by the military more accessible to vocational educators in the civilian setting. The course materials were acquired, evaluated by project staff and practitioners in the field, and prepared for dissemination.Materials which were specific to the military were apleted, copyrighted materials were either omitted or appro- val for their use was obtained.These course packages contain curriculum resource materials which can be adapted to support vocational instruction and curriculum development.
