If an out-of-print book listed here has already been sold, we will keep a record of your order and, when we acquire another copy, we will offer it to you. If a book is in print but not immediately available, it will be sent when new stock arrives. We will inform you when a book is not available. Prices take account of condition; they are net and exclude postage. Please note that we have occasional problems with publishers increasing the prices of books on the actual date of publication or supply. For secondhand items, we set the prices in this list. We try to use services which are as inexpensive as surface postage, but are air-lifted wherever possible. Valuable ship- ments will be registered. Larger bulk shipments are dispatched by bag mail. Decorative cloth. £90.00 Delightful and beautiful large-format work recording the unique collection of 96 Chinese gouaches and three larger works that had long hung in the country home in Sweden, Skarva Manor, of Fredrik af Chapman. The 96 gouaches date from the 18th century and show sampans and boats plying various trades — transporting salt, green teas, passenger sampans, carrying porcelain etc. Much va- riety. A beautiful collection that has now been saved for the Swedish nation. One page foreword in English, then full page colour il- lustrations throughout. It appears that the gouaches are reproduced near life-size. Some of the sampans and scenes also shown in close-up detail. Captions to plates in Swedish and English. Stitched, silk-case. £50.00 Reduced-size facsimile reprint of the black-and-white woodblock illustrations from the 1588 original. One of the glories of Ming dy- nasty book production and illustration, the ‘Fangshi Mopu’ is a high-quality catalogue reproducing a variety of designs on ink cakes. The patterns were widely copied in other handicraft media (jade, lacquer, wood) both in China and Japan. Fang Yulu (fl. 1570-1619) worked with well-known artists such as Wu Tingyu and Ding Yunpeng to produce designs along with the skilled woodblock carver, Huang Shouyan. In Chinese.
