Travis County Parks Travis County and the Austin Parks and Recreation Department oversee more than 16,000 acres of land containing around 250 parks, 15 preserves and 40 greenbelts (undeveloped, wild or agricultural land surrounding or neighboring urban areas). Unless otherwise posted, all parks are generally open for public use from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. At times, access is limited or affected by events or maintenance issues.
