AIR FORCE J.R.O.T.C. Aerospace Science 1 Number of CTE State Service Course Number Abbreviation Credits Hours ID 68410000 JROTC 1 1 PES00004 Prerequisite: Application A blended course designed to accommodate first, second, and third year cadets in the same classroom. The goal is to promote citizenship, develop leadership skills and build self‐discipline. It includes instruction in air and space fundamentals, drill and ceremonies, physical education, health, global studies and character education. The primary Aerospace Science study area in 2016‐2017 is "A Journey into Aviation History." The emphasis is on civilian and military contributions to aviation; the development, modernization, and transformation of the Air Force; and a brief astronomical and space exploration history. The primary study area for Leadership Education in 2016‐2017 is "Citizenship, Character, and Air Force Tradition." It instills elements of good citizenship, develops informed citizens; strengthens and develops character; develops study habits and time management; and wear of the Air Force uniform. Other topics include drill and ceremonies, health/wellness and military traditions. The Wellness/Physical Fitness portion of the course is an exercise program focused upon individual base line improvements. The goal is to motivate AFJROTC cadets to lead active, healthy lifestyles beyond program requirements and into their adult lives. Cadets will be given the opportunity to put into practice the wellness concepts that are taught in Leadership Education. AFJROTC 1 is an elective credit that can be used to fulfill the P.E. requirement. Group activities include community service projects, military installation visits, Military Ball, Field Day, Awards Night and individual/team physical training activites. Additional activities may include Color Guard, Drill Team, Awareness Presentation Team, Model Rocket Team, Radio‐Controlled Aircraft Team, PT Team and Academic Team.
