The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be advanced one day, from 15 August to 14 August.] REQUESTING MASS INTENTIONS What does it mean to have a Mass “offered” for someone? The published intention (and announced on weekdays), and at the heart of the priest’s prayer, may be for the living, the deceased, in thanksgiving for grace received, and also for special occasions (anniversaries or birthdays). The parish office is stocked with Mass Cards for these intentions which may be sent to a surviving family or to the person for whom the Mass is offered. All parishioners may request Mass intentions, though we do try to keep a couple of openings each week on the calendar, in case there are requests for someone who is ill, heading for surgery, wedding anniversary, etc. If we have too many Masses we can support some of the smaller missions and parishes by forwarding Mass intentions to them for a more timely offering of the Mass. Please remember that no date is absolutely guaranteed. There may be a Funeral Mass, or the pastor may be away. Nearby dates will allow for a prompt re-scheduling. Also, Saturday 5 PM and Sunday 8:30 AM Masses are listed in consecutive bulletins, but are unannounced at Mass. There are plenty of open dates in the last half of 2020. In other words, do all that we reasonably can even if there is no perfect protection from the virus. PREPARING TO ATTEND SUNDAY MASS, PLEASE OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING: 1. Registration is required for attendance at all of the Masses so that we can limit the congregation to a count of 50. The contact information, which you provide by phone, email, or on-line registration, is retained in our parish office for 30 days. Should there be an outbreak, the Interior Health Authority and the B.C. Ministry of Health need to be able to contact people who may have been infected. Bishop Gregory Bitmann has continued the dispensation from the obligation to attend SundayMass. What that means is that if you are not confident in the safety of environments outside of your home, you need not heroically venture out. There are three ways to register for one of the three Masses, with your name and telephone number: by on-line registration link (each person individually, include your name and telephone number in the box). From the parish office, you will receive an email with a new link each week, by Monday morning, for the following weekend Masses. by email, including your name and telephone number, to the parish office [email protected] by telephone, Monday to Friday 9:30 AM to 12 Noon (we will also check the voicemail) At the church, please confirm your registration with the usher in the church foyer to verify your attendance. It is helpful if people avoid arriving just a few minutes before Mass. The only entrance is through the main door (near the confessional). Ushers will be alert if the wheel-chair ramp is needed. Hand sanitizer is to be used when entering and exiting the church. 2. Wear a mask and wash and sanitize hands regularly. 3. Stay at home if you are not well, and stay at home if your health is compromised with other conditions and you feel vulnerable to germs. 4. Stay apart from each other by 2 meters. 5. At the door of the church the usher will greet you and direct you to the registration table. Verify your attendance. Disinfect your hands using the dispenser available. 6. Seating in the church will have two people in one pew (one at either end), followed by one person in the middle of the pew behind you, followed by another pew with two people, followed by a pew with one person in the middle of the pew. 7. When seated in the pew there should be a 10 cm piece of green masking tape in front of you. Observing this seating plan will ensure a comfortable maximum attendance in the church. 8. There are no holy water fonts in the church at this time. The vigil candles and electronic lights at the shrines are not available to reduce hand contact on surfaces. You may request the lighting of candles - details in the bulletin. 9. There will be no Sunday collection in the usual manner. You may place your offering in the basket as you enter the church before taking your seat. 10. Washrooms. Please use the facilities at home before leaving for Mass.
