Cape May County is the second least populated of the 21 counties in the State of New Jersey but the fourteenth largest county in square miles. The county mostly lies on a flat and costal peninsula which extends into the Delaware Bay. The network is characterized by one operator, NJ Transit, which provides a limited amount of fixed route or demand responsive services throughout the county. The majority of public transportation services operated in the county is almost solely available to specific demographic or client groups. In addition, most of these services are limited to the daytime hours during weekdays only. However, the flexible fixed route and demand responsive services that are currently operated by the various providers represent a relatively large transportation system.
