Copyright R. Fryer Stem Usually flowers and fruits as a shrub about 1 m tall but also flowers when smaller. Leaves Leaf blades about 12-38 x 3-13 mm, petioles about 1-2 mm long. Twigs, petioles and lower leaf blade surfaces clothed in pale silky hairs. Venation usually difficult to see except on the almost glabrous leaves. Twig bark strong and fibrous when stripped. Flowers Flowers about 5 mm diam. Perianth tube (hypanthium) about 5-6 mm long, lobes about 1-2 mm long. Habit, leaves and flowers. Copyright R. Fryer Stamens inserted in the throat of the perianth tube (hypanthium). Anthers +/- sessile, about 1.4 x 0.5 mm. Pollen orange. Apex of the ovary clothed in white hairs. Style about 2.5-4 mm long, attached to the side of the ovary. Stigma papillose. Fruit Fruits pyriform, about 4 x 2 mm, clothed in prostrate silky hairs. Seed almost as large as the fruit, testa tuberculate. Cotyledons flat, about as long as but much wider than the radicle. Seedlings Features not available. Habit, leaves and flowers. Copyright R. Usually grows in open forest but sometimes found in vine thickets and monsoon forest.
