White is a Fourth-Year from Danville Virginia, who is double-majoring in Youth and Social Innovation (Curry) and Sociology (CLAS). She has received numerous academic awards at UVA, including: Intermediate Honors, Dean’s List, OAAA Honors, and is a member of the Raven Society. On Grounds, Shontell has engaged in research as the lead student on a Jefferson Public Citizens project with the Young Women Leaders Program (YWLP), and assisted with the Teachers in the Movement Oral History Project in the Curry School. She was also chosen for a one-year term as the Curry student representative to the school’s Diversity Action Committee. One activity that she has enjoyed greatly is serving as the current president of One Way Christian Felllowship at UVA. In the ocmmunity, shontel has devoted many hours to instructing youth as a camp counselor and instructor. After graduaing in May, she plans to attend graduate school to become a high school school counselor, and possibly pursue a doctoral degree in guidance and counseling.
