The understory on the north side of the Osprey o o o Red-naped Sapsucker x x park is dominated by grass and, in some places, Bald Eagle r r r r Williamson’s Sapsucker x native shrubs. The southern end of the park has Sharp-shinned Hawk u u u u Hairy Woodpecker x a denser understory, mostly consisting of *Cooper’s Hawk u u u u *Downy Woodpecker u u u u native plants and shrubs. Three reservoirs, Northern Goshawk x x *Northern Flicker c c c c which provide Portland with its drinking water, *Red-tailed Hawk f f f f Pileated Woodpecker x x can be found on the south and west sides of the Northern Harrier x x Flycatchers park. Access and birding vantage points are American Kestrel r r r r Olive-sided Flycatcher u o u excellent, including trails, closed roads, and Merlin u u u *Western Wood-Pewee c f c Peregrine Falcon r r r r *Pacific-slope Flycatcher c u c grassy fields. Plovers & Sandpipers Willow Flycatcher o r o The main birding attraction at Mt. Killdeer x x Hammond ’s Flycatcher f r u Tabor is its many neotropical migrants. April Spotted Sandpiper r o r Dusky Flycatcher r r to May and mid-August to early-October are Least Sandpiper x Gray Flycatcher x x the best times to view migrants. Especially Gulls Say’s Phoebe x from late-April to early-May, birders from Mew Gull r r r Vireos across the Portland Metro Area visit the park Ring-billed Gull r r r Warbling Vireo c o c every morning. Winter and summer are less California Gull o r o u *Hutton’s Vireo f f f f productive, but still rewarding. Herring Gull r r o Red-eyed Vireo x Thayer’s Gull r r o Cassin’s Vireo f o u Western Gull r r o Blue-headed Vireo x Glaucous-winged Gull u u f Plumbeous Vireo x .
