The Son of Aussie Icons Maurie Fields and Val Jellay, Marty Was Introduced to the Entertainment Industry at an Early Age

The son of Aussie icons Maurie Fields and Val Jellay, Marty was introduced to the entertainment industry at an early age. Marty began his acting career at the age of seven in the popular ABC series Bellbird. This led to appearances in many Australian TV series as a child actor including Crawford Productions’ Homicide, A Taste for Blue Ribbons, Division 4, Matlock and culminating in the lead role of "Stinker" in the ABC mini-series Marion. As an adult, Marty appeared in Cop Shop, The Sullivans, Skyways, Carsons Law, Starting Out, and the regular role of "Burns" in The Flying Doctors. Recent television work includes roles in Sea Change, Something In The Air and featured guest on Blue Heelers. Marty’s movie credits include roles in Evil Angels, The Great Bookie Robbery, Break of Day, Death of a Soldier and male lead in Rainbows End. Marty starred in the successful stage musicals, High Society, Three Guys Naked From The Waist Down and Crazy For You, receiving Green Room Award nominations for each production as Best Featured Actor in a Musical, and winning the Award for his performance of "Lank Hawkins" in Crazy for You (described in the Herald Sun as "one of the finest comic performances seen on the Australian stage"). During 2000, Marty starred opposite Marina Prior in the sell out season of Guys and Dolls playing the role of "Nathan Detroit" originally made famous in the movie version by Frank Sinatra. Marty returned to the stage in 2001, to play the hilarious "Moonface Martin" in Anything Goes at the State Theatre Melbourne. Marty is one of the industry’s most versatile and charismatic performers. Musically, Marty trained for fifteen years at the Melba Conservatorium in piano, voice and theory. He performs "stand up" throughout Australia's comedy venues and makes numerous corporate appearances. As one of Australia’s "funny men" he enjoyed a four year run on Hey, Hey, It’s Saturday, was resident comedian on the game show Blankety Blanks and was a regular guest on Battle of the Sexes. Marty is also the best selling author of three comedy books, and in 1997 was nominated for a prestigious "MO" award as Best Stand Up Comedian in Australia..
