Liste Der Geschützten Holzarten

List of the timber species, protected in CITES and according to Regulation (EC) 338/97 Status: 26.11.2019 (CITES), 14.12.2019 (EU) In the table on the following pages all currently protected tree species are listed for the above- mentioned status. The species are sorted alphabetically by scientific species name. If the protection status is associated with an annotation, this is indicated by the hash tag '#' and a number next to the protection status. The explanation of each annotation can be found at the end of the table. The species protection regulations depend on the appropriate protection status and, if applicable, on the associated annotation. For this purpose, please note exclusively the protection status of the re- spective species according to Regulation (EC) No. 338/97, which you can find in the column 'EU protection'. The date in brackets below the protection status refers to the day from which the protec- tion status became legally effective. If a protection status has a history, the protection status that is no longer valid is displayed in gray under the current protection status. This information is required when it has to be proved that the wood in question originated before the species was first listed in CITES. (pre-convention). For reasons of overview, the individual species of the genera Dalbergia spp. (rosewood) and Di- ospyros spp. (ebony) are listed at the end of the table. We have described the species protection provisions for the import or re-export of wood of protected tree species in detail on our website. (Link: https://www.bfn.de/themen/cites/arteninfos/einfuhr-von-holz-geschuetzter-arten.html). Current note At the 18th CITES Conference of the Parties it was decided to include the entire genus Cedrela spp. in CITES Appendix II. In contrast to all other decisions of the 18th Conference of the Parties to CITES, the mentioned listing will only enter into force after 12 months on 28.08.2020 under interna- tional law. This ensures that the authorities and affected companies/traders have sufficient time to prepare for implementation. Until this amendment enters into force, the current listings of some Cedrela species in Appendix III CITES/Appendix C VO(EG) 338/97 and Appendix D VO(EG) 338/97 (see table below) will remain valid. In order to avoid irritations, the listing of the genus Cedrela spp. has not yet been included in the table. This will only be done shortly before the entry into force of the mentioned listing. 1 List of the timber species, protected in CITES and according to Regulation (EC) 338/97 Update: 26.11.2019 CITES, 14.12.2019 EU (Explanation of the annotations at the end of the list); History of the protection status is written in grey (not more valid) Scientific name Trade name or common CITES Appen- EU-Annex Natural dis- (Synonyms not com- name (selection) dix (until 31.05.1997 tribution plete) the CITES Appen- dix was valid) Abies guatemalensis Gautemalan Fir, Mexican I A El Salvador, (syn.
