Stems slender, erect, glabrous, scantily short-villous under the heads. Leaves are shiny dark green, thin and glabrous, alternate, entire, ovate or obovate, lower leaves with 2-12 cm petiole connecting directly to the blade, upper leaves strongly clasp- ing at the base.
