In that role he was responsible for the records of three predecessor organizations: the Association of State Institutions of Higher Education, originally the Presidents' Association, 1956-1965; the Legislative Committee on Education beyond the High School, 1957-1965; and the Governor's State Commission on Higher Education Facilities, 1964-1965. Abbott (b. 1850) was a Lake City, Colorado, engineer and insurance agent. The collection contains a notary commission signed by Governor Frederick W. Pitkin, 1904, and an advertising blotter and promotional flyer on Lakee City mining properties. SMss. Airlie-Ogilvy 1 reel microfilm, 1864-1904 Microfilm copy of letters relating to the experiences of David Ogilvy, Earl of Airlie (l826-l88l), his son Lyluph (1861-1947), and daughter Maude, during their travels in America. The major portion of the letters are from the son, who established a large ranch near Greeley, Colorado. Airline Schedules Collection .5 linear feet, 1960-1970s Schedues principally in the years 1960-1970s. Unprocessed. Albany Hotel 6 linear feet, 1913-1922 The Albany Hotel was built in Denver in 1882. Three years later the original owner sold the hotel to a firm headed by Thomas M. Patterson and Samuel Morgan. Located at 17th and Stout, it was one of Denver's leading hotels. The papers consist of guest registers for the years 1913-1922. Guide available in Archives. Albion Mining Properties .5 linear feet, 1915-1936 Reports on the Albion Mining properties, 32 miles northwest of Boulder, copies of maps of the properties, and microfilm copies of 2 bound volumes of company records. Alden, Vernon 25 linear feet, 1942-1946 The Vernon Alden Collection contains the papers of Vernon Alden, who graduated from the US Navy Japanese Language School, which was located at the University of Colorado in Boulder from 1942-1946. Alexander, Gordon 9 linear feet, 1916-1971 Gordon Alexander (l90l-l973) served on the University of Colorado faculty from 1931-1966 as professor of biology, head of the Biology Department (1939-1958), and curator of University Museum holdings. The collection contains manuscripts and published works on biology, plus an extensive collection of lantern slides on Thailand, Cambodia, and the American Southwest. Guide available in Archives. Allen, Henry Asa 4 oversize photographs, c1909 Four panoramic photographs of the Panama Canal, c. 1909. Unprocessed. Allen, Henry .5 linear feet, 1945 Henry Wray Allen (1919-2012) was born in China. After graduating from the University of California Berkeley, Allen enlisted into the US Navy Reserves. In February 1942 Allen began taking classes in the US Navy Japanese Language School (JLS). Once Allen graduated, he was stationed at Pearl Harbor as a translator for the Joint Intelligence Center Pacific Ocean Areas (JICPOA) until the end of the war. Allen was discharged from military service in 1946, but he continued to work for the Office of Naval Intelligence and then for the US Department of State. Guide available in Archives. Allott, Gordon 871.5 linear feet, 1933-1969 After graduating from the University of Colorado law School in 1929, Gordon Allott (l907-1989) established a private law practice in Lamar. From 1934-1948, he served as city, county, and district attorney in Lamar except during his service in the Air Force during WWII. A Republican, Allott served as Lieutenant Governor under Dan Thornton, 1950-1954, and as a United States Senator from 1955-1972. The collection contains files of Allott's early political work with the Young Republicans, l933-1950, plus personal and subject correspondence for Allott's three terms in the Senate. His Senate committee records are extensive, particularly for the Committee on the Interior and Insular Affairs. Collection restricted, see guide for details in Archives. American Association of Geographers—Great Plains, Rocky Mountain Division 1.5 linear feet, 1976-1983 Records document the activities of the Great Plains/Rocky Mountain Division of the American Association of Geographers (AAG). Founded in 1904 by William Morris Davis, the AAG had grown to 6,500 members and nine different divisions within the United States by the early 1980s. This collection contains correspondence, meeting and financial records, and records of the Journal from the Great Plains/Rocky Mountain Division. Guide available in Archives. American Farm Project 17.5 linear feet, 1977-1990s The American Farm Project, headquartered at Marshall, Minn., was sponsored and partially founded by the National Farmers Union and the National Endowment for the Humanities, from 1978-1982. The major objective was to bring a humanities perspective to decision-making in rural America by training rural couples to approach problem solving from this point of view, and to return to their home areas to conduct meetings on current topics. The collection consists primarily of project records and taped interviews of rural couples about decision-making and the family farm. Guide available in Archives. American Federation of Labor – Congress of Industrial Organizations – Region 11, 2 Accessions 11 and 51 linear feet, 1952-1987 and 1972-1996 The 1st Accession of AFL/CIO Region #11 contains Colorado local union files: #59 #151, #366, #21229, #21240, #21421, #21422, #22986, #23260, and others, especially about the Coors Strike and Boycott. The 2nd Accession comprise materials from Steve Bieringer (1972-1996), director of Region 11, and also files from Frank Lay (1977-1994), COPE director.
