PAPERS Mss. 1939 1916-1918 LSU Libraries Special Collections BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL NOTE Vivian J. Gianelloni (1892-1957), born on Longwood Plantation, near Baton Rouge, was a Louisiana State University alumnus and a sugar technologist. During the First World War, Gianelloni served in the Coast Artillery Corps of the American Expeditionary Forces. He trained at Camp Funston, Texas, at Fort Winfield Scott Training Camp, California, and at the Heavy Artillery School. SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE Papers relate to Gianelloni's military training at Camp Funston, Fort Winfield Scott Training Camp, and the Heavy Artillery School and chiefly consist of course material, class papers, lecture notes, outlines of study, examinations, and text books. The collection includes a manuscript "Officer's Register" volume, photographs of a United States Army parade, detailed maps of France, and a set of the Y.M.C.A. game, Trench Checkers. Printed items include issues of the first volume of The Stars and Stripes and a number of training manuals, mostly published by the United States Army and the War Department (1916-1918).
