Sat. 3/21 - Arrive to Costa Rica and stay at Hotel Bouganvilla. No birding this day Day 2. Sun. 3/22 - AM bird Hotel Bouganvilla (HB) - Travel Day with stop at Hummingbird Gardens (HG) - Another stop at the waterfalls and then continued to Hotel Sueno Azul Day 3. Mon. 3/23 - AM bird Hotel Sueno Azul pond before breakfast – After breakfast & after lunch birded La Selva Biological Station Day 4. Tue. 3/24 - AM bird along river at Hotel Sueno Azul – After breakfast birded La Selva Biological Station – Afternoon in the country observing parrots, Great Green & Scarlet Macaws all setting up for night roost and some to nest Day 5. Wed. 3/25 - AM bird hotel bridge – Travel Day to Arenal Observatory Lodge with some birding en route Day 6. Thur. 3/26 - AM bird from lodge deck before breakfast – After breakfast walked the “Waterfall Trail” down to the meadow – Afternoon birded the entrance road to Arenal and scoped marshland and habitat around Arenal Lake. Day 7. Fri. 3/27 - Travel south/west over the mountains to the Pacific Coast – Check-in to Punta Leona, afterward took boat trip and birded through mangroves into the sunset Day 8. Sat. 3/28 - AM bird Punta Leona grounds – After breakfast & after lunch birded two difference entrances of Carara National Park. Day 9. Sun. 3/29 - AM bird Punta Leona grounds - Travel south/east & up in elevation and birded Radio Towers at 11,000 feet. Then stopped for Fiery Throated Hummingbird on our way to Savegre Mountain Lodge. Checked in at sunset Day 10 Mon. 3/30 - AM bird trails around the Savegre Mountain Lodge – After breakfast got Toyota ride up mountain and then we walked down - Afternoon Rodrigo drove us up the entrance road to bird Day 11 Tue. 3/31 - AM birded the river in front of the Savegre Mountain Lodge – After breakfast had a free morning before returning to San Jose Day 12 Wed.
