In the service of people I began my association with the great people’s movement called the AIADMK as an ordinary party worker, and started my political journey as the Chairman of Kuniyamuthur town panchayat, with the blessings of Idaya Deivam Puratchi Thalaivi Amma. I contested the 2006, 2011, and 2016 state legislature elections as an AIADMK candidate and won. I had served as the Minister of Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Law. I currently serve as the Minister of Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Plans, to the best of my abilities. Political Journey I have been working for the AIADMK right from my student days. 1990 - Youth leader of Kuniyamuthur Corporation, for the first time. 2000 - Secretary of the Coimbatore South MGR Youth Wing 2002 - Party Secretary of Perur Panchayat 2007 - Party Secretary of Coimbatore South region 2010 - Party Secretary of Greater Coimbatore Districts Currently serving as Organising Secretary of the party, and member of the guiding committee. I also continue to serve as the AIADMK State Organising Secretary and the Secretary of Greater Coimbatore Districts As a party worker from Thondamuthur I had won consecutively from Thondamuthur in the 2011 and 2016 state legislature elections, enjoying the support of the people of the constituency. The accomplishments during these terms include: Starting of a Government College in the Thondamuthur constituency, which was a long-time demand of the people. Under the “House for all” Scheme, the highest number of houses were built and handed over to the occupants in the Thondamuthur constituency. An Integrated Drinking Water Supply System was designed and implemented in the Thondamuthur constituency, benefitting the members of the public. All the lakes and water bodies in the Thondamuthur constituency were desilted and renovated. The ancestral temples of people of Notified Communities, including the Arundathiyars, and the members of the Scheduled Tribes have been repaired and renovated. Cemeteries of Christians and other minority communities are going to be renovated and reconstituted. Following the desilting and renovation of the Noyyal River, the rainwater was preserved properly in the ponds fed by the river. A new bridge was constructed across the Noyyal River in Theethipalayam Panchayat, Thondamuthur Panchayat Union. As a Minister of Amma Govt under Honorable CM Thiru Edapadi K Palanisamy I had served exemplarily well as a Minister, under the leadership of Idaya Deivam Puratchi Thalaivi Amma. I continue to serve to the best of my abilities under the leadership of the honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Annan Edappadi K. Palanisamy, as the Minister of Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Plans. During this term, Successful implementation of the Athikadavu Avinasi Project, which was a 50-year-old dream of the people of Coimbatore. Setting up of 45 MLD capacity Sewage Treatment Plants, the first of its kind in India, at Kodungaiyur and Koyambedu, on behalf of the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB). The Government of Tamil Nadu’s special project, Amma Canteens, continue to successfully run all over the state. All the rivers, streams, and water bodies in Tamil Nadu have been desilted, repaired, and renovated, and rainwater harvesting systems have been successfully installed. Unlike any other state in the country, drinking water is continuously supplied to the people of Tamil Nadu every day through the municipal bodies. Rescue and relief measures were taken during natural disasters like the Corona pandemic and the cyclones. During the surveys conducted in 2013-14, the sanitation levels, which initially stood at 45 percent, have now increased to an incredible 100 percent, through the Swachh Bharat Mission. The project has been implemented in all the Panchayats of the state. The 100-year-old Coimbatore Park has been modernized and renovated in such a manner that 3000 to 5000 people can now use it at a time. In order to reduce the traffic congestion in Coimbatore Metropolis, a two-tier flyover was constructed and inaugurated at Gandhipuram. Construction works are on to build a 10.1 KM long flyover on Coimbatore Avinasi Road, to reduce traffic congestion. Only a well-educated and intelligent youth community can build a strong nation. With this objective in mind, free Amma IAS Coaching Centres have been set up all over the state, to create more Administrative Officers. Through the Nallaram Trust, I continue to provide the essential amenities and means to the financially backward sections of the society, to improve their standards of living, and bring prosperity to their lives. Awards and Honours 143 National awards were won in the year 2011 for exemplary functioning of the local administrative agencies. Tamil Nadu was ranked the No. 1 state in the country by the Prime Minister for the overall improvement of the sanitation levels and infrastructure in the villages and for the supply of drinking water. Received National Award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Tamil Nadu being declared as the best state in the Rural Sanitation Survey. The Department of Local Administration had also won the Centre’s e-Panchayat Puraskar for the excellent implementation of the e-governance schemes at the Panchayat level. AIADMK Manifesto 2021 VOTE FOR AIADMK Promises for the people of Coimbatore district A fruit and vegetable processing and storage facility plant with world-class modern technology will be set up for the use of farmers in the Thondamuthur Constituency. A special task force will be set up on behalf of the forest department to protect agricultural lands and crops in the Thondamuthur constituency from wild animals, including elephants. The Damaged roads in Thondamuthur Constituency will be rehabilitated. Water bodies of Thondamuthur Constituency will be dredged. The flyover from Ukkadam to Athuppalam will be opened soon after completion. An international standard cricket ground with all facilities will be set up in Coimbatore. Work on the bus terminus, launched in the Coimbatore district will be expedited. The Metro Rail project initiated in Coimbatore will be expedited and it will be implemented soon. Coimbatore Airport will be expanded and upgraded to accommodate large international flights to and from Coimbatore. A memorial will be built for Mr. Krishna Boer, a Boer community leader who was born in Coimbatore and has done social service for the people in various fields. State-of-the-art facilities will be provided in government schools, colleges, and hospitals at Thondamuthur. From 2016 to 2021, all the projects started by the Amma's government will be successfully carried out implemented. Irrigation canal projects initiated by the Government such as Athikkadavu-Avinashi, Sarabanga, Thamiraparani- Karumeniyaru, Cauvery-Gundaru, Cauvery Sub-basin Reconstruction, Fort Canal Reconstruction, Lower Bhavani Canal Reconstruction in Dharmapuri District, Ennekol Jarthalav Aliayalam irrigation canal projects in Krishnagiri District will be executed at the earliest. World-class integrated cold storage facility and processing centers will be established to safely store the grains of farmers in all districts including Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Tiruppur. An application will be developed to locate these centers and the infrastructure will be upgraded so that farmers can reach the warehouse within 10 km. A Welfare Board will be set up for power loom workers on wages and weavers of handlooms. A separate welfare board will be set up for the Boer community. Women's Welfare Programs Amma washing machine will be given to each housewife in order to reduce the workload of the women. A monthly stipend of Rs. 1,500 / - will be deposited in the account of housewife’s bank account. 6 LPG cylinders per year shall be provided free of cost for the housewife. All family cardholders – Rice will be provided free of cost with an solar cooking stove. Family card ration items will be delivered to your doorstep The investment in the Girl Child Protection Scheme will be increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 70,000. The quota for women in government jobs will be raised to 40 percent. Women traveling on city buses will be given a 50 per cent discount on bus fares. Under the Amma Wedding Gifts Scheme for Newly married couples, for poor couple, wedding gifts including silk saree, silver kolusu / bracelet and household items will be given.. Farmers Welfare Schemes Three-phase electricity required by farmers will be given free of cost. All farmers waiting for agricultural electricity connection will be provided electricity connection immediately. To increase the productivity of the farmers and to encourage the farmers to do so, they will be given a ploughing subsidy of Rs. 7,500 / - per annum. Considering the cost of paddy cultivation, the support price for paddy will be increased in the interest of the farmers. Organic Farming Research Station will be established in the name of Mr. Nammazhvar, the famous agricultural scientist. Input subsidy will be provided to farmers to promote organic farming. In order to help the coconut farmers, a large number of Associations for Coconut farmers will be formed to pave the way for better prices for their produce. A "Livestock Board" will be set up to implement the welfare, production and marketing of livestock, thereby improving the rural economy and improving the livelihood of farmers. Extensive research will be carried out across the State to prevent wastage of water into the sea to ensure water management, increase irrigation facilities and drinking water resources. Dams will be built where necessary. Check Dams will be built in rivers, streams and streams across the state to enrich and enhance the groundwater level. Youth Welfare Programs Government job shall be provided to one member of the family whose members are not in government service. Livelihood incentive amount for educated unemployed youth will be doubled. To start lucrative new businesses by young men and women of Tamil Nadu, a scheme with low-interest loan (Start-Up Loan) and subsidy will be launched.
