The opera,opera, begunbegun in 1956 and in gestation for some 16 years, was premiered in London in 1972, and today is considered by many to be one of the composer’s greatest creations – a seminal dramatic work in Max’s life. For this evening’s performance, we are delighted to bring together the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, a cast featuring the best of Britain’s vocal talent, combined choirs from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, University of Glasgow and the RSNO Junior Chorus, all led by one of the UK’s leading exponents of Max’s music, the conductor Martyn Brabbins.
