The Emotional White House “Listening Session” And Town Hall Meeting (Videos) Two events happened yesterday, a live one hour broadcast from the White House where President Trump heard from mass shooting survivors and families. Later in the evening, CNN broadcast a live two hour town hall meeting, where thousands watched, listened and reacted as student survivors, and parents of the deceased, were able to question lawmakers, Sheriff Israel and the NRA about gun laws. First, in an extraordinary event Wednesday afternoon President Donald Trump held a “listening session” with the survivors and parents of some of the mass shooting from around the country. First, an excerpt from the session when Andrew Pollack angrily told President Trump he was “pissed” as he related the story of the shooting death of his 18 year old daughter, Meadow: “It should’ve been one school shooting, and we should’ve fixed it,” said Pollack. “I’m pissed.”- NBC News Several hours later, down in Sunrise, Florida, CNN hosted a town hall session attended by several thousand students, teachers, friends and family of Stoneman Douglas High School. One father of a slain student confronted Florida Senator Marco Rubio: “Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was killed in the school shooting at Stoneman Douglas high school, challenged Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) over Rubio’s record on guns during CNN’s Stand Up Town Hall.” You can find additional clips from the CNN town hall on their website. President Trump listened and asked the group to tell him what they think should be done. Trump also offered some suggestions to help make schools safe.
