I have 2 foundry registered Minskin cats and they have had one litter of kittens 2 boys. I registered the litter. I am a TICA member and will have been a member for one year as of May 1, 2014. I am pretty new to all of this I will admit, but I am hard working and willing to learn. I go to as many shows as I can each season with my cats and have brought Minskins from other breeders for expo only to shows. I was invited to Meet the Breeds 2013 in NYC and took representations of Minskins from my cattery, Crystal cattery, and Fureverfriends cattery. We had a wonderful time and hope to be invited back. I have found all the judges and members to be wonderful and helpful. I owe a ton to Donna and Francine from TICANE they are wonderful! I write to you today to request to be appointed as the working group chair for the Minskin breed. I realize I have alot to learn but I am willing to do the work and network the Minskin breeders though out the world so we can work together to advance the breed, get more cats registered and into the show ring. I am willing to be avalible via e-mail and phone and to return inquires in a timely manner. I will ask questions when I have them and work very hard with anyone interested in the breed. While I have nothing but respect for Paul Mcshorley, he created a wonderful loving breed that I couldn't imagine my life with out, myself and other breeders have found he is hard to reach and does not return inquires in a timely or professional manner. As stated in article 33.1 chart 303.1 to advance to Advanced New Breed we need 100 registered adults, 50 of them must have a code that would qualify for CH or produce offspring that can and have at least 25 litters born, we would all like to work towards this advancement but it is very hard to do when we can't reach our chair in regards to getting cats registered. Please realize I mean no hard feelings to Mr Mcshorley and I am more then willing to keep him in the loop and truly hope he will continue to work with the breed. I fully intend to keep in fully informed and involved. However he has proven he is not able to forfill his position as Working Group Chair for the Minskin breed. I ask you please consider appointing me. I can promise I will work to my full potential. I would love to help the breed advance and would see them to Championship status. I am happy to provide you with professional and personal references and will be at the annual show in Woochester in August with some of the other breeders and no less then 20 minskin cats. Many will be there for expo only but I want you, the board, to see and meet some of our cats. I am working hard to get minskin breeders to come on out for this show. As breeders we all want to see our breed advance and succeed as I am sure Mr Mcshorley and you the board do as well. I thank you for your time to read this letter. Please if you have any questions to ask me feel free to contact me any time. Thank you again, Rachel Gouveia sweetascandy cattery 26 Floyd ave Riverside RI 02915 401-649-9570 508-336-3801 (work) [email protected] 5 Amend Show Rule 29.4.5 (Benching of males) - Crockett Work Item: Amend Show Rule so that only adult males in Championship are not benched together Rationale: When this rule was written in 1979, most alters were former breeding cats. Today most of our alters never had any idea that they were males, with many having been altered very early, before leaving their breeder's home. Ditto with the HHPs. Any exhibitor may request special benching for a cat that prefers not to be next to another neuter. Amendment: 29.4.5 Adult entire male or neutered cats shall not be benched in adjoining cages in the judging ring. Rules Comments: (NP) Sounds good to me. (SL) Well done! Agreed (SA) OK with me. My only issue is that it puts it on the exhibitor to use their best judgment and they don't always do so. (MW) We also need to ensure that the Clerking Manual (54. 1.9.3, 54.2.2.3) is updated if this change passes the membership ballot. (BT) I am OK with this change (EC) I've been "shopping" this idea around at shows and have not had one negative comment from either HHP or Alter exhibitors, and a lot of them have commented how it makes sense for moving the flow of the show along. Many exhibitors have commented that many of these cats know one another - some travel and share rooms. Additional comments were that in the benching area you have no such restrictions even with whole males. 6 Amend Standing Rule 109.2 (Meetings of the Board) Work Item: Amend Standing Rule to give flexibility around meeting dates and to allow for electronic meetings for the Spring and Winter meetings. Rationale: The current rules for Board meeting dates are over prescriptive and are starting to clash with other external events that may require one or more Board members’ presence. In addition, at the Winter meeting, some Board members were delayed due to weather issues. The possibility of having an electronic meeting for Winter (and saving travel for Spring meeting) would be helpful. Please note that the actual dates of the 3 main meetings would continue to be decided by the board well in advance. Amendment: Delete all of the current rule 109.2 (Meetings of the Board): 109.2.1 All Board Meetings shall be scheduled for a minimum of 2 days. 109.2.1.1 Meetings of the Board shall be the fourth full weekend in January (Winter Meeting), the third full weekend in May (Spring Meeting) and the week immediately preceding Labor Day weekend (TICA Annual). 109.2.1.2 The Winter Meeting shall be held in Harlingen TX without a show OR at a location outside the United States in conjunction with a show, approved by the Board. 109.2.1.3 The Spring Meeting shall be held in the United States, rotating from Central to West to East, with or without a show. The meeting venue must be at or near a major international airport at a hotel with adequate meeting space, full restaurant service and airport shuttle. 109.2.1.4 The Winter and Spring meeting locations shall be selected by the Board without consideration of accompanying show. Replace with the following: 109.2 Meetings of the Board. 109.2.1 Meetings of the Board shall be held in January (Winter Meeting), in May (Spring Meeting) and the week immediately preceding Labor Day weekend (TICA Annual). All of these Board Meetings shall be scheduled for a minimum of 2 days. 109.2.2 The Winter and Spring meetings may be held in person, or electronically at the 7 discretion of the Board. 109.2.3 Any club may apply to the Board to hold a show in conjunction with either the Winter or Spring Meeting. 109.2.3.1 The meeting venue must be at or near a major international airport at a hotel with adequate meeting space, full restaurant service and airport shuttle. 109.2.4 Additional meetings of the Board may be held in accordance with By Law 19.2.1. Rules Comments: (NP) That should work. (CL) I agree. Winter and Spring meetings needs to be flexible. (MA) I agree. (BT) Fine with me (MW) This is fine. (EC) I’m fine with this (SA) Agreed.
