The original mahogany bar, Tennessee pink marble and intricate tin ceiling remain intact in the pub side of Draft Wine & Wines by the glass . 4 the London Grill. In the mid 1900’s the bar was sold to P.J. McMenamin and reopened as McMenamin’s Bar & Restaurant. Rumor has it Bubbles .......................................... 4 that McMenamin’s ghost still lingers throughout the building, along with the occasional visit from Red Wine ...................................... 5 Eastern State’s famous prisoner and bank robber Willie Sutton. The establishment became “London” in the White Wine ................................... 6 late 1960’s when it was owned by Warren Brown. He owned two other Londons in Philadelphia, one located on 12th street, between Sansom and Sweet Wine .................................... 6 Walnut. Embossed in copper in the sidewalk you can still find the name “London” in front of the main entrance. In 1978 London was sold to Peter Happy Hour and Bar Specials ...... 7 Coughlin. A few years later he created the restaurant part of the building and eliminated the living quarters that once existed.
