GERMAIN, THIBAUT, TUCKER, WHITE, AND WILLMOTT AND SENATOR RISER Prefiled pursuant to Article III, Section 2(A)(4)(b)(i) of the Constitution of Louisiana. 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact Section 1 of Act No. 483 of the 1993 Regular Session of the 3 Legislature relative to the John James Audubon Bridge; to retain the name "John 4 James Audubon Bridge" on the bridge crossing the Mississippi River between Pointe 5 Coupee and West Feliciana parishes; to name the east approach to the bridge in West 6 Feliciana Parish to honor General Robert H. Barrow; to name the west approach to 7 the bridge in Pointe Coupee Parish to honor General John A. Lejeune; and to 8 provide for related matters. 9 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 10 Section 1. Section 1 of Act No. 483 of the 1993 Regular Session of the Legislature 11 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 12 Section 1. The proposed bridge crossing the Mississippi River bridge to be 13 constructed between the town of New Roads in Pointe Coupee Parish and the town 14 of St. Franciscville in West Feliciana Parish parishes shall be named the John James 15 Audubon Bridge. The east approach to the bridge on Louisiana Highway 10 in West 16 Feliciana Parish between its intersection with United States Highway 61 near the 17 town of St. Francisville and the bridge shall be named the "General Robert H. 18 Barrow Memorial Approach". The west approach to the bridge on Louisiana 19 Highway 10 in Pointe Coupee Parish between its intersection with Louisiana 20 Highway 981 and its intersection with Louisiana 1 Business and Louisiana 10 Page 1 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions. HB NO. 200 ENROLLED 1 Business west of the city of New Roads shall be named the "General John A. 2 Lejeune Memorial Approach". 3 Section 2. The Department of Transportation and Development or its contractors are 4 hereby directed to erect appropriate signage and change any promotional type items 5 reflecting this name change. The Department of Transportation and Development shall erect 6 informational historical monuments at appropriate sites within the vicinity of the east and 7 west approaches to such bridge memorializing the achievements of General Robert H. 8 Barrow and General John A. Lejeune, both commandants of the United States Marine Corps, 9 and their respective relationship to the parishes of West Feliciana and Pointe Coupee.
