Battle for Mayor-President Candidates for Sen. Bodi White Mayor-President Hoping to Unite Central This Fall CENTRAL — Sen. Bodi White, a native of Central, announced his candidacy for Mayor-President in the Nov. 8 primary at a well-attend- ed news conference where many local political leaders endorsed his bid for the parish’s highest office. Smokie Bourgeois Sharon Broome White’s strategy for the primary involves uniting voters in Cen- tral and in Southeast Baton Rouge which he represents in the State Senate. A solid vote from those two areas could be enough to thrust him into a Dec. 10 runoff where he would be most likely to face a Democrat. Many of White’s sup- porters think that would be former Sen.
