TIVA is a truly remarkable organization that pro- vides valuable services to every business and individual working in the mid-Atlantic region today. In this busy and fast-paced world, TIVA is an excellent resource for all, providing professional development programs, communication opportunities and employment information. We believe that the Mid-Atlantic has one of the fi nest production communities in the world, and this is why an event like the TIVA Peer Awards is so important – it allows us to shine a spotlight on the exceptional talent that can be found in the Mid-Atlantic region. We are particularly proud to acknowledge TIVA’s innovative Peer Promise Awards, including the fi nalists and everyone who participated. A program such as this one is important because it provides a unique opportunity for the next generation of fi lm professionals to fi nd encouragement and to have their work acknowledged and celebrated. An awards event such as this one is not easy to put together and we want to ac- knowledge and thank everyone who was involved in the competition and the show. Tonight we come together as a community to salute media ex- cellence in the greater DC region, and to call out our collective achievements in our contribution to society. We thank everyone who submitted their work, for without you tonight would not be possible. Like a picture frame or background music, or a myriad of other things which are only noticed when they are bad, but otherwise taken for granted, are the people be- hind the scenes making tonight happen. While it is not possible to list everyone, there are a few individuals that have been instrumental in making tonight happen. First and foremost, I cannot say enough about our chair Todd Clark, who has gone the extra mile, starting the day after last year’s awards to make tonight a success. It has been an honor working with Todd, and he deserves much credit. Everyone on TIVA’s board has contributed. Glenn Scimonelli is our technical direc- tor. Colin Sandy has been working with our many sponsors, who are vital in making tonight a success. Rachel Torgoff has fostered our Peer Promise, to help bring in the next generation of fi lm makers. Luis Blandon has worked tirelessly on our newsletter. TIVA’s Treasurer Bill Coughlan and Matt Harmelin have run our marketing cam- paign. Rounding out the board are Vice President Aaron Shirley, Secretary Tara Gar- wood, Membership Chair Ed Fanning, Jonathan Stein, KC Blake and TIVA’s newest board member Shane Yeager. I would also be remiss not to mention programming chair Rodney Mitchell, who has been the brain behind our many panels throughout the year. These events are the foundation of TIVA upon which tonight’s event is the crowning jewel. TIVA aims to bring the media community together to foster excellence. Film making is a collaborative process, and requires the varied skills of many, and collectively we are stronger than the sum of the individuals. While we certainly hope that you have enjoyed the evening, more importantly, we hope that you have connected with someone tonight who will provide support, encouragement and inspiration for your next project.
