It was erected by Yaroslav the Wise to be the gala entrance to the city. Nearby there is the monument dedicating to Yaroslav the Wise with model of Sophia Kyivska on his hand.Sophyivska square is the main square at the time of Yaroslav the Wise's ruling. The erection of Sophia Kyivska was the action to show the power of Kyivan Rus. The graves of Yaroslav the Wise and his wife Irina are located here. Sofiya Kyivska used to be a library. In 1990 Sophia was included into UNESCO's list of international heritage.Myhailovsky Cathedral was founded by Prince Svyatopolk (Myhayl). There had been the remains of holy Varvara, which were transferred to Vladymyrsky cloister after the destruction. During 1997- 2000 Myhailovsky cathedral was rebuilt.Khreschatyk Street is the main street of Kiev. Independent square is situated nearby and is the place for repose and entertainment. Every weekend it converts into the pedestrian area. There is the underground trade mall "Globus" with lots of cozy cafes.he monument to Volodymyr who had baptized Kyiv Rus is situated on Volodymyrskyi hill. Rushing through the old park you stumble across the funicular-tram (3 carriages) which can lift you down and up to Volodymyrskyi hill. Going down you meet the charms of Podil, the historical district, where merchants and craftsmen used to live during the time of Kyivan Rus. Loads of exquisite churches, Florovsky convent, the river moorage, market and variety of fascinating buildings can be observed wandering along narrow streets of this district. • Lunch at the Chinese cuisine restaurant JIU LONG • 14:30 – 16:30 – Tour to Kyiv Pechersk Lavra Monastery Tour to the golden-domed Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Monastery, the most famous sight-seeing object in Kyiv, which has been included in UNESCO World Heritage Register. You will visit caves where monks lived. The monks were also buried in these caves. The mixture of the cool temperatures and humid atmosphere of the caves allowed the bodies of the dead to mummify. This twenty-eight-hector functioning monastery contains numerous churches, towers, a printing works, miles of maze-like underground tunnels containing numerous churches and some of Kyiv's riches museums. • 16:45 – 17:30 – Visit to the National Museum of history of Ukraine in World War II (Motherland Monument) The main exposition is deployed in 16 halls and has more than 17 thousand exhibits Guided tour «Ukraine. War. Own Memory» talks about heroism, valor, sacrifice and tragedy of the people of Ukraine during the Second World War. It highlights global events of the war and detached historical facts. • Transfer to the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel 09:00 – 19:00 - Full day tour to Chernobyl with lunch at the local café 09:00 – departure from Kyiv We make a stop at the last petrol station before The Zone, so you can get your morning coffee, buy water and snacks. It is the last civilization on our way. It takes around 2 hours to get to the main entrance of the zone –check point “Dytiatky”, where we pass passport control, sign radiation safety rules and the tour starts. • Nature is taking over the place. Wildlife is truly great in the zone. There are foxes, hares, wild boars, deer, wolves, moose, and herds of Przewalski horses and other species. You should keep your eyes open and look around on your way from the checkpoint to the town of Chornobyl. We see wildlife very often, but no 2 headed animals, monsters and zombies! • Stop in the village of Zalissya with almost 700 abandoned houses (uninhabited) • Discover the town of Chornobyl – the busiest part of the zone nowadays. Almost 5000 people work and live there in shifts. Radiation background in the town of Chornobyl is lower than in Kyiv. • The main square of the town of Chornobyl/memorial “The Wormwood Star” • Statue of Lenin (one of the few remaining in Ukraine) • Abandoned Synagogue • Chornobyl river port with sunken boats and ships • Quick stop at the local shop (if needed) • Memorial “To those who saved the world” • Exhibition of original, remotely controlled robotic machines used during cleanup • Leliv checkpoint, entrance to the 10km zone • The village where almost all the buildings were demolished and buried during the decontamination works in 1986. The area is very overgrown now. We stop near the remaining nursery school. Here you can face and measure radiation for the first time and learn more about contamination. • The industrial site of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant • Cooling towers of the Chornobyl NPP 3rd generation (pass by) • Unit 5, unfinished reactor of Chornobyl NPP (pass by) • Panoramic view of CHNPP • New Safe Confinement ("Arch") – visitor`s site at 250 m distance • NPP cooling channel (feeding giant catfish – available May to September) • Memorial "Life for Life” in front of the main administrative building of NPP • Prometheus statue, which was evacuated together with Prypiat citizens • Lunch (included) 13.30-14.00 (vegetarian meal available upon request), Ukrainian cuisine, all products are delivered from Kyiv. • Prypiat – the ghost town. Time stopped there on April 26th, 1986 and you now have a unique opportunity to travel back in time and plunge into the Soviet era. Our professional guides have expert knowledge of the area and will help you explore the town on foot for roughly 2 hours. Spread out over scenic rolling hills dotted with groves of trees are many quint 17ths to 20th century wooden cottages, churches, farmsteads and windmills, many of them with manufactured flower and vegetable gardens and interiors furnished with fascinated old textiles, traditional furniture and tools. There are more than 300 buildings: churches, mills, huts, the objects of life, country clothes (about 80 thousand items).
