The board has narrowed a list of eight potential sites to one, the Brush Street Triangle, a piece of land at the end of Brush Street, east of State Street, bounded by Highway 101 and the fairgrounds. “We think it’s a good location,” said Assistant CEO Alison Glassey. “It’s close, but it’s not in the middle of everything.” “It’s not next to the high school,” she said. The Brush Street site meets all of the minimum requirements for the jail site: at least 20 acres of property, direct access to Highway 101, utility service and limited site hazards. The Brush Street site has more than 50 acres of available space with vacant indus- trial land on three sides and the fairgrounds on the other.
