BANGALORE INDUSTRIAL CORRIDOR AN EXPERT COMMITTEE REPORT ON THE STUDY CONDUCTED BY RAJAGIRI COLLEGE OF socrAL SCIENCE SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF LAND ACQUISITION FROM PUDUSSERY CENTRAL AND PUDUSSERY EAST VILLAGES FOR KOCHI- BANGALORE INDUSTRIAL CORRIDOR AN EXPERT COMMITTEE REPORT ON THE STUDY CONDUCTED BY RAJAGIRI COLLEGE OF SOCIAL SCIENCE PREFACE Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act- 2013 mandates an expert committee to be formed to assess the impact of land acquisition. An expert committee has been formed by the order of Palakkad district collector on29/06/2021 (reference number- DC PKD/]-1573/2OIAUKBICPKD), to assess and submit a report on the impact of land acquisition of 225.74 hector (558 acre) private land from Pudussery Central and Pudussery East villages. The expert committee convened meetings on the following dates 09/07 /2L, 12107 /2L ,t9l\7lzL,. Committee also visited the place and done an exhaustive assessntent about the land acquisition. ASSESSMENT AND REMARKS The fundamental aims of the Kochi- Bangalore industrial corridor are rejuvenating production and economic sectors, which immensely contributes to national building and development.NH544,railway line, Gail pipeline, Kanjikodu Business Park and Coimbatore airport are favourably contributes to the betterment of the project. lt will also contribute to the development of Kerala. Moreover, it shall boost the development of backward district,Palakkad. The acquisition of land does not raise any threat to environment, observes the committee. SIA report also observes that it is the most appropriate land for the project. The acquisition of 558 acre of land directly affects only 58 families. They mostly make their livelihood from agriculture and related job. There are L6 homes and 7 shops situate in the recommended project area. coNcrustoN The committee has strictly followed the rules and regulations of RFCTLARR ACT 2013. The project is quintessential for the economic growth the country. Apart from that it shall also generate new livelihood options. The land acquired for the project is very suitable. lt shall be beneficial to all. lt is very significant to note that it only directly affect 58 families while acquiring 558 acre of land. lt highlights that the impact of land acquisition is very miniscule. Since there is no alternative land available for the project, the committee recommends to go forward with this project. However the committee strongly stipulates following recommendations to be taken care of. o The land owners should be rehabilitated and compensated within the stipulated time as per the rules and regulation of the law o Protect the Gail pipeline project. o Provide a public way for the natives, and also plant as much new trees to compensate. a should make sure that the project will not adversely affect the nearby forest a Ensure proper and scientific waste management. o Should provide road facility to nearby cultivating area (not acquired for the project), to transport harvesting machine and tractor Subo'{to4l--,, 11 to d istrict col lecto r 2O2L July l9 1.
