North-Eastern Hill University Shillong Thirty-Ninth Annual Report 2012 – 2013 From the Vice-Chancellor’s Desk A prominent event during the year was the Twentieth Convocation held on the 6th November ’12 where Shri Vinod Rai, Comptroller and Auditor General of India was the Chief Guest. The research performance of individual members of the faculty can be glimpsed from their publications during the course of the year. One can safely say that, even though some departments need to catch up in their research activities, the overall performance has been quite satisfactory. This is corroborated by the fact that the science departments of the University have also been included in the DST sponsored PURSE (Promotion of University Research & Scientific Excellence) programmes based on the overall index of their publications. The Friday Extension Regional Centre of the Indian Council of Social Science Research in research oriented academic activities Greetings from North-Eastern Hill contributed significantly in the overall academic University! environment of the University. s I look back at our perfromance during All things considered, we have not done 2012-13, I have good reason to think so badly during the year under report. However, Athat it has been farily satisfactory we should avoid complacency and strive to do in several areas. Our normal academic better next year. life continued without any interruption; distinguished academics from other universities and institutions visited our University and gave lectures, seminars and interacted with our students. The University organized several P. Shukla seminars and conferences, both national and international and with better facilities available on our campus, these seminars and conferences had a visibly more professional look.
