Every fourth and fifth grade student in two elementary schools received at least one book to take home for summer reading. Ettrick Elementary students are pictured above. “FIRST BOOK” PROGRAM PARTICIPATION AT TWO SCHOOLS EVERY MONTH Members of the Virginia State University Women’s Basketball Team and the Athletic Department staff joined MMHMF members and other community volunteers at Harrowgate Elementary School each month to read to K – 3rd grade students. It was a wonderful experience for all. As expected, the student athletes were a big hit with the children; autographs were in demand!
