Membership Directory Chamber members and potential members, 2019 held lots of changes for the Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce (DRCC). We updated our brand with a new name and logo and received four-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The staff and board of directors spent countless hours completing the accreditation process. Our task: demonstrate competency in nine core areas ranging from finance to facilities. The result of our hard work is evidenced by this 4-Star rating. Our goal, like the businesses we represent, is to be successful and recogniz- able. When you think of the Chamber, we want you to think highly reputable, credible and a vital resource. This is what you can expect from our services. The Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce is recognized as the second oldest Chamber of Commerce in the state of Illinois. The Chamber’s mission is to be a pro-business network providing service, political advocacy, and leadership to strengthen education, community image, and local businesses. Having been around for more than 130 years, we know a strong and active local business community is good for everyone. ABOUT THE CHAMBER A Chamber of Commerce is an organization of businesses seeking to further their collective interests, while advancing their community, region, state or nation. Business owners in towns, cities and other territories voluntarily form these local societies/networks to advocate on behalf of the community at large, and for economic prosperity and business interests. Chambers have existed in the U.S. for more than two centuries, with many having been established before the jurisdictions they represent.1 The Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce (DRCC) was chartered on July 3, 1903, but traces its roots back to the 1887 formation of the Decatur Board of Trade. The GDCC is recognized as the second oldest Chamber of Commerce in the state of Illinois and celebrated its 130th Anniversary in 2017.
