Wisconsin Supreme Court Primary Election Feb. 16 Tuesday, February 16, 2016 Wisconsin Supreme Court Primary Election February 16 Justice Joanne Kloppenburg Elected to the Court of Appeals in 2012, she is currently the presiding Judge for the Court's District Four. Wisconsin's Court of Appeals is the court directly below the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Judge Kloppenburg has issued hundreds of opinions in all areas of the law since joining the court. Before being elected to the Court of Appeals, Judge Kloppenburg served for 23 years (1989-2012) as an assistant attorney general at the Wisconsin Department of Justice. As a prosecutor and a litigator, she handled cases that involved constitutional law, administrative law, environmental law, and all aspects of civil litigation in circuit courts around the State and in federal court. She argued before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. At the Department of Justice, she worked with both Republican and Democratic Attorneys General. Judge Kloppenburg graduated with honors and awards from the UW Law School (1988). She then worked as a law clerk for Chief Judge Barbara Crabb in federal district court in Madison for just over a year before joining the Department of Justice. During law school, she interned on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Before going to law school, she served in the Peace Corps. Judge Joe Donald Judge Joe Donald has almost 20 years of experience presiding over civil and criminal court cases, with more than 350 jury trials. Joe was appointed to the court by Gov. Thompson in 1996, and has been re-elected four times in Milwaukee County without opposition. He is currently assigned to general felonies in the Criminal Division, but previously has served in civil/probate, homicide, sexual assault, and as chief judge of Children's Court. Judge Donald was deeply involved in the creation and development of the drug treatment court, and served as that court's first presiding judge. Joe is deeply involved in the community, and serves as a Commissioner for the Housing authority of the City of Milwaukee. He is a former member of the Milwaukee Child Welfare Partnership Council, the Urban Day School Board, the Milwaukee Area technical College Board, the Governor's Task Force toEnhance Probation and Parole, the Judicial selection Committee; the Milwaukee School of Art & Design Board, and the Marquette Law School Alumni Board. Joe grew up in Milwaukee and earned his law degree from Marquette University. Justice Rebecca Bradley Justice Rebecca Bradley was appointed to serve on the Wisconsin Supreme Court by Governor Scott Walker in October 2015. Previously she was appointed by Governor Walker to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge.
