The National University of Arts

The National University of Arts A great number of Romanian and world art masters studied at the National School of Fine Arts, founded, in 1864, by Theodor Aman and Gheorghe Tattarescu in Bucharest. Let’s mention at random Constantin Brancusi, Victor Brauner, Paul Neagu, Ioan Andreescu, Ştefan Luchian, Gheorghe Petraşcu, Sabin Popp, Aurel Jiquidi and Lucian Grigorescu. Among the graduates, George Demetrescu Mirea, Francisc Şirato, Jean Al. Steriadi, Camil Ressu, Corneliu Baba, Alexandru Ciucurencu, Dimitrie Paciurea, Oscar Han or Ion Jalea chose to become art educators too. In 1998, the Academy of Art in Bucharest was accredited as a university. The title National University of Arts (NUArts), granted in 2001, certifies the level of excellence reached by the Romanian artistic education system after a century and a half of experiments, a period in which the chairs/departments were represented by exquisite artists, remarkable investigators of the plastic phenomenon. The National University of Arts in Bucharest offers her students an educational program and projects aiming to reach international standards. NUArts is made of the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), the Faculty of Decorative Arts and Design (FDAD) and the Faculty of History and Theory of Art (FHTA). The NUArts Publishing House, Gallery and Museum are affiliated with the University. The partnership between Oprişor Winery and NUArts enjoys a common concern: art. Art-and-Wine, a concept included in Oprişor Winery’s portfolio, stimulates creativity in both domains. The interest for culture motivates Oprişor Winery’s presence at the important events NUArts organizes. For example, for the Project “150 UNArte” (“150 NUArts”), which celebrated 150 years of the Romanian artistic education system, Oprişor Winery achieved a limited series of 50 boxes, each of them containing 3 collection wines, personalized by labels rendering well-known copies from the history of Romanian painting, sculpture and graphics. The sums cashed in are going to sponsor two scholarships granted to University’s students or graduates. Contact: 19, Gen.
