Holiday Tours of the Historic Houses of Fairmount Park December is a month of holiday fun and it is the season to see some of our local treasures that are located in nearby Fairmount Park. Did you know that the Roberts family of Pencoyd were distant relatives of George Clymer (1739- 1813) who signed both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution? As a young man, Clymer spent his summer months at Woodford Mansion that is located in today’s Fairmount Park. In the spirit of this year’s theme, A Very Philly Christmas, the historic houses will host four special events showcasing what makes Philadelphia a special place: music, food, neighbors, and families. There are a variety of ways to tour the 6 Historic Houses in Fairmount Park; namely, Cedar Grove, Laurel Hill Mansion, Lemon Hill Mansion, Mount Pleasant, Historic Strawberry Mansion and Woodford Mansion. You can visit the houses at your own pace during their open house hours, take the PHILLY PHLASH, or sign up for a guided trolley tour on select dates, or reserve a group tour through the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Spend a day in Fairmount Park, for more information click here. • Favorite Links • About Us • Lower Merion Historical Society's Website • Membership Information • Buy Our Book • MISSION STATEMENT OF THE LOWER MERION HISTORICAL SOCIETY The Lower Merion Historical Society is an organization dedicated to Preserving Our Past For The Future.
