Copa opened their season on May 11, drawing Atlantic City @ PHL Lone Star Hershey FC 1-1. 6:00pm West Chester @ Hershey FC FC Monmouth faced their in-state rival twice during their inugural campaign. Their first 6:30pm meeting came on June 13, which resulting in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Count Basie Park. Their second meeting came on the final day of the regular season at Copa, where FC Monmouth needed a win to secure a playoff berth. The blue and gold scored the first two goals of the game and emerged 3-1 winners, advancing to the playoffs in their first Keystone Conference Results season. The scoring opened in the 50th minute, as FC Monmouth conceded an own goal. The Nor’easters got another in the 60th minute, making the final score 2-0. 15 of the 16 players who saw action made their FC Monmouth debuts, with the lone outlier being midfielder Dylan Fogerty. Guess Who’s Back, Back Again? FC Monmouth returns for its second year of play in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) after a 2018 inuagural campaign in which it went 6-3-1, finishing fourth in the Keystone Conference. After losing their first two games, the Blue and Gold won six of their eight remaining games, including a four-game winning streak to end the regular season. Not Wasting Any Time In their first-ever season of play, FC Monmouth qualified for the 2018 NPSL Playoffs as the fourth seed in the Keystone Conference. Their playoff debut saw a trip to Madison, NJ, where the team fell to FC Motown 4-1. Midfielder Chase Covello scored the team’s lone goal in the 44th minute, as they fell to the eventual National Runner-Ups. ‘O Captain, My Captain 2018 Team Captain Zach Pereira returns for his second season with FC Monmouth. The 2019 Monmouth University graduate was second on the team in minutes played (785), and started all ten games that he played in. He also assisted on one of the three goals that the team scored at New Jersey Copa FC that clinched a playoff berth on July 7. For the Hawks, Pereira played in 64 games over four years, including 49 starts. He took 63 shots, and scored eight goals while tallying five assists.
