This paper takes Lingnan Impression Park as case study to research on integrated strategies of cultural heritage conservation and reuse which combined three modes: 1) original site protection, 2) relocation and reconstruction, 3) new archaism architecture. Those modes of building with different attributions jointly constitute the Lingnan Impression Park displaying the traditional Lingnan (Cantonese) culture and atmosphere, making lingnan Impression Park as an attractive cultural tourism and suburban leisure destination, which has great significance for research on heritage conservation cooperated with tourism development. 1. Introduction Lingnan Impression Park is a project which was reconstructed on the basis and pattern of an old village named Lianxi. It was a part of the “Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center” project which proposed and coordinated by the Guangzhou Municipal Government and the Guangdong Provincial Education Administration in 2003. Because the history of lianxi village can be traced back to the southern song dynasty; this community has a history of 700 years. The village has a certain number of Lingnan (Cantonese) traditional ancestral hall and residential house which has certain heritage value. The Lianxi Village in the project was planned as a “waterfront culture sharing area”. After nearly a decade of development, Lingnan Impression Park has become a window for tourists to learn the traditional Lingnan culture. This paper takes Lingnan Impression Park as case study to research on combined strategy of cultural heritage conservation in the process of Lianxi village reconstruction, transformation and tourism development, providing references and methods for protecting and reusing traditional and historic villages in China. 2. Construction Background Analysis of Lingnan Impression Park In August 2000, it began the site selection for the university town project in Guangzhou. In March 2001, the government finally decided Xiaoguwei Island as the site for the university town construction. Guangzhou planning bureau completed the development plan of Guangzhou University Town (also called as Guangzhou High Education Mega Center) according to the requirements of the project. In 2002, the Guangzhou municipal government together with the Guangzhou institute of cultural relics and archaeology carried out the survey of cultural relics in the island, and commissioned the South China University of Technology Folk Residential Research Institute to carry out the planning and renewal design of Lianxi village [1]. Due to rich cultural heritage in the island, it is decided to take this advantage in order to continua historical context, making the university town being not only a Content from this work may be used under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence. Finally, under the efforts from all sides, a planning for construction a folk museum in university town was born. The project of university town museum is a highlight of Lingnan (Cantonese) culture conservation and exploitation. The municipal government decided to collect and exhibit the cultural relics on Xiaoguwei Island to build an open folk museum which will fully demonstrate the value of those cultural heritages. Constructing a folk museum in university town as a part of the planning project, government invested a lot of money. Late the folk museum developed into a museum village with tourist attractions spreading the Lingnan culture. In 2008, Guangzhou university town folk museum village was renamed as Lingnan Impression Park, which was taken over and operated by a private enterprise. 3. Lingnan Impression Park Development Strategy 3.1. Overall conditions and conception of Lingnan impression park development One of the planning strategies of the university town is constructing cultural sharing and exhibition area. This functional orientation is in great contradiction with the original rural residential land use. Therefore, in order to maintain the overall image of the university town, the planning is to move out all the original villages. However, considering the need of cultural heritage protection and continuity of cultural context, the historical building was basically retained in its original state, and some residents of the villages were relocated to the other side of the river of the island. Before the university town project, there were six aboriginal villages on the island. The university town construction headquarters by negotiation finally retain four villages and relocated residents of Liangxi villages and another villages in the opposite side of the river, and decided a renew and upgrade project on the basis of the Liangxi village site, turned the village into a folk museum in the university town at the edge of the pearl river. Meanwhile, it was relocated valuable cultural relics spread of other villages in the island into Liangxi village for conservation to build a water village with Lingnan characteristics. There are two reasons for final choice of the Liangxi village to protect those cultural relics and historic buildings: 1) from the external factors, Liangxi village has a special location at the southern end of the central axis in Guangzhou university town, just at riverside green belts, rather than in the campus’ construction land, so don't conflict with urban infrastructure construction and campus planning; 2) from the internal factors, the spatial form and fabric of Lianxi Village have typical characteristics of Lingnan water village. The Lingnan Impression Park covers an area of 16.5 hectares. The streets in the park are all pedestrian Spaces. There are public transportations such as buses and subways surround it with convenient transfers. There is a large parking area located at the front gate of the scenic spot, which provides conditions for the park to be fully pedestrian. 3.2. The General Methods of Architectural Heritage Conservation 3.2.1. Original Site Protection. Original site protection is the most ideal form for conservation of historic building. It can minimize the damage of the historic building caused by human forces, and protect its original structure and features with authenticity and integrity. But there are some problems in this practice in China: the historic buildings protected by this way are easy to be submerged in the urban high-rise buildings, which isolates the heritage from its environment and produces conflicts among different landscape, functions and users. 3.2.2. Relocation and Reconstruction. Some building with a certain historical value but with a relative lower level of heritage value can be preserved by adopting the methods of relocation and reconstruction in the absence of sufficient conditions to protect them in their original site. The academic circle is cautious about this method, because it conflicts with the principles of "authenticity" and "integrity" in heritage conservation. Under this mode, the basic requirements are to maintain the 2 2020 4th International Workshop on Renewable Energy and Development (IWRED 2020) IOP Publishing IOP Conf. Series: Earth and Environmental Science 510 (2020) 032009 doi:10.1088/1755-1315/510/3/032009 original pattern and features of the building, to achieve the effects of "relocating the old as old, restoring the old as old". Therefore, some historical buildings that will be destroyed in urban development process can be preserved and inherited, and the historical building resources can be protected. 3.2.3. New Archaism Building. Archaism building does not belong to the category of heritage protection, but it plays a positive role in promoting the social and economic benefits of cultural heritage reuse in the contemporary era when the integrated development of cultural heritage with tourism is advocated. Making atmosphere by taking advantage of archaism architecture and landscape is a new tourism mode which develops rapidly in recent years in China. In such scenic spots, the ancient cultural atmosphere is created through the imitation of ancient architecture and restoring the appearance of local historical customs, so tourists can enhance their experience of ancient culture and experience local folk customs. 3.3. Lingnan Impression Park development Strategy 3.3.1. The Application of Cantonese Elements. With modern
