Before his coaching tenure, Army played one season in the AHL with the Maine Mariners, recording 27 points (11G-16A) in 68 games during the 1985-86 campaign. With Salzburg, Forrest’s team went 32-22 in the international Red Bull Hockey Series and went unbeaten (4-0) in its season- ending tournament. Before coaching Salzburg’s farm team, the 35-year-old from Auburn, N.Y. served as an assistant coach for the U.S. National Team Development Program in 2014-15. While with the USNTDP, Forrest had the opportunity to mentor future top NHL draft picks Matthew Tkachuk, Clayton Keller, Luke Kunin and Auston Matthews. He won a gold medal with the team at the IIHF U18 World Junior Championship.
