Actually two tournaments were contested on the same weekend; the P.B.A. 50 (over 50 years category) and the P.B.A. WESTERN REGION. The eclectic group hailed from seven different states. They sported 20 plus titles and com- petition among the Southlands best led to exciting match play for the titles. Match Play contenders in- cluded such household names as Michael Haugen Jr., Missy Parkin, Frank Barefoot Jr., Ben Laughlin, Steven Smith, Mason Sherman, Don Blatch- ford, Jim Harvey and Kevin Fatherree. Bowlium’s own super senior Dave Kovach stayed the course to be alter- nate in Sunday’s Match Play. LAKEWOOD — KMEL CUNANAN took home the guaranteed prize of $600 as he emerged as the WIZARD who played the STOCK EXCHANGE very well during the Strikers Force last event at Cal Bowl. Fatigue didn’t dampen this bowler’s ability to finish strong with his 251 game during our single game championship roll-off considering he came running from another event. Tied at 2nd and 3rd place with their 227 game and taking home $150 each was Chris Abing and Marife Catalasan. For $50 each, 4th place was Freddy Zamora who shot 214, 5th was James Borillo with his 211 game, 6th was Freddie Catamisan with his 208 game and 7th place was Rick Llaneta who finished with 203.
