Add the two sounds together. Hi-Hat Crack of the drum – an even faster glissando of a square wave over multiple octaves. Make the center freq of the gliss to be about 2000hz, significantly higher than the snare drum, and make the gliss only about 2 octaves, so a quick gliss from 4000 to 1000hz should work. Resonance - Modulate the frequency of a SinOsc by WhiteNoise. With each hit, vary the center frequency of the SinOsc and the index of modulation. Give the SinOsc a small gliss downward like in the snare and bass drum. Send this sound through a Resonz (resonant band pass) with a r Envelope – a super short envelope will make a closed hi hat sound. A longer decay will make an open sound. ASSIGNMENT 1) Make one of the drums above. You can go for “reality” or not, ie, if it sounds cool, that is all that matters. 2) Make another percussive sound that sounds however you want. Filters, noise, and envelopes go a long way. Keep it simple. I think you will be surprised at how musical things can be when kept simple. .
