We are pleased to be able to offer some of his signed covers which are truly unique. Ron made a name for himself by creating standout covers for the 1966 World Cup which we have advertised in previous magazines. He had his covers doubled & even sometime trebled on dates such as the draw for the group stages & in Monaco on the release of their own World Cup stamps, ideas which mainstream GB dealers simply hadn’t thought of doing. He also produced covers for every single match of the World Cup as well as obtaining covers signed by each team, so can probably claim to be the only man to have collected every single players autograph from the tournament. After the World Cup Ron continued producing covers including those which we can offer today, marking famous finals such as Celtics 1967 triumph in Lisbon & Man United’s victory against Benfica in 1968. Ron’s efforts were recognised at the time with his collection making the newspapers and his dedication to producing high quality & unique covers have ensured they are still highly sought after today. He went above & beyond on many occasions such as to ensure his Celtic Lisbon Lions cover was postmarked in Portugal on the actual day of the final which was achieved by arranging the cover to be carried there and back on Celtics team’s plane; imagine trying to convince a club in the modern era to do that for a fan! There is always strong interest whenever Ron’s covers come up for sale so don’t miss this chance to own these autographs which are genuinely so hard to find on the market & have in your collection a piece of football philatelic history.
