The O•S•C•A•R© The Community Voice of Old Ottawa South Year 38 , No. 1 The Ottawa South Community Association Review JAN 2010 Fire on Grosvenor Avenue, Dec 28, 2009 n December 28, there was a five alarm fire a block from Oour house. It was an in-fill in the process of being built, so no- one was hurt or lost anything. It went from smoke to a huge fire in no time at all. I was just coming back from the store and was able to get some shots (with a camera phone) of the fire as it progressed. At its height, it was so hot that I could feel the heat on my face from 50 feet away.” said Michael Walma. Ten fire trucks battled the fire on Grosvenor Avenue. Two workers were doing construction in the basement when an explosion happened, but both got out safely, according to fire officials. Firefighters put out the flames promptly. The cause remains under investigation.
