The John Shropshire Memorial Scholarship The following are the criteria for a student to be eligible for consideration for the John Shropshire Memorial Scholarship of $200. Student must: ü Student must demonstrate evidence of financial need. (To be eligible applicant must have a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid - F.A.F.S.A. on file with Clarion University of Pennsylvania.) ü A second semester freshman or above with at least 12 credits earned with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. ü A student graduated from a high school in Pittsburgh city, Penn Hills High School, Harrisburg city, Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Farrell High Schools, or any of the Clarion County schools. An essay is required: Topic for essay – “How will you use your education to make the world a better place?” Please do not exceed one page in length. ***Deadline for application is April 1, 2015. The scholarship committee would meet soon thereafter and the student winner would be notified in late spring. Please return application along with your essay to Rogers J. Laugand III in the Office of Minority Student Services, 277 Gemmell Student Center.
