He died of cancer at the age of 52 in 2011. "The B1 Jump" was the opening track on his 2004 album "More Better Different" and is available on 7" vinyl for the first time on Record Store Day NO LABEL / 29.90 € RADIO SILENCE NIRVANA - LIVE ON KAOS FM, SEATTLE 1987 INTRLP0004 LP RSL13003 ROCK / GRUNGE Record Store Day UK A1 The visceral power of one of the most iconic bands in rock and roll first emerged in Aberdeen WA in the A2 mid-1980s. In amongst the now revered and widely recognised band scene in Seattle during this period, A3 were Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselik and Aaron Burckhard jointly known as Skid Row. Close friends of The Melvins, they were about to embark on a journey that would take Cobain and Novoselik to world stardom A4 two years later. Their session for KAOS FM at Evergreen State College in 1987 was also their first demo tape A5 and as such, Nirvana's first ever recording session. How pivotal these recordings are in terms of rock history B1 is not really open to question, it's evidently obvious, but it's also a priceless opportunity to witness a time and place in rock and roll that can never be repeated. Interference very proudly presents the entire B2 original KAOS-FM broadcast of Skid Row (Nirvana) live in session from Evergreen State College, Olympia B3 WA on 17th April 1987. Professionally re-mastered original FM broadcast with background liners, interviews and rare archival photos B4 OTHER PEOPLE 22.60 € DAVE HARRINGTON GROUP - BECOME ALIVE OP038 LP AMBIENT / CHILL OUT / USA LOUNGE A1 Dave Harrington's long-standing musical career is impressive and varied, yet the New York-native has never released an album of his own work. Today, Harrington is pleased to announce his first solo A2 endeavor, Dave Harrington Group, and the release of his debut album, Become Alive, which will be A3 released April 15th on Other People. With today's announcement, Harrington offers up the first taste of the album with its title track - listen below Dave Harrington grew up immersed in jazz, from his father's love of it, A4 to later studying with Kelvyn Bell, Brad Jones, JD Parran, Daniel Bernard Roumain, and Dave Zinno. Upon B1 his return to NYC after university, Harrington dove headfirst into his hometown of New York's musical underworld, where scenes and bands rub together and cross-pollinate with abandon. From there, he fell B2 into the electronic music milieu, collaborating with Nicolas Jaar on Darkside's celebrated blending of B3 techno, prog-rock and space disco. For Become Alive, Harrington was inspired by the classic jazz albums of the late 60s and early 70s, which experimented with contemporary studio recording techniques and B4 effects 1 / 30 SONAR 13.70 € KOLLEKTIV MARLOW - BACKROOM (EROBIQUE RMX) SKRSD003 12" HOUSE / DISCO / BROKEN Record Store Day GER About two years ago Sonar Kollektiv released Marlow's first 12inch. The funky sparkler inviting everybody to bop along, Backroom' (SK265) soon became a stable club hit and got airplay on all respectable radio A1 stations all around the globe (f.e. Gilles Peterson's Worldwide show on BBC Radio 6 Music). The song with the distinctive voice of Pete Josef still works perfectly as proven by this year's Sonar Kollektiv's (limited) Record Store Day release. Two brand new remixes give wings to Backroom' and transport the track a second time to all the dance floors where hips are swayed lasciviously. No less a figure than the Hamburger allround entertainment machine Erobique takes the track to task and puts you with his Maxi Mix in a cheerful mood in an infectious way. A tiny bit more restrained is the Super Disco Dub remix by Alex B1 Barck and Marlow. Supremely sensitive the bassline played by Christoph Kaiser works its way sluggishly into the groove until the keys by Erobique - in this version as well - take lead. Everything leads to Marlow's debut album, coming this June! This is a special project to A2 celebrate Record Store Day 2015. Psychodisco is the soundtrack of an ambitious multimedia project by A3 The Stupid Set (aka Italian talents Giampietro Huber, Paul Bazzani, Umberto Lazzari and Giorgio Lavagna) recorded back in 1982 using various Korgs, Moogs and a Roland 808 drum machine, a Teac 4-track A4 recorder, a small analog mixer, and ready-made magnetic tapes. Because the band eventually B1 disbanded no label every full released this soundtrack but now Opilec do so with pride. Label boss I- Robots carefully edits every one of the original tracks from The Stupid Set & Snowblitz DJ. Up first is the DIY, B2 afro sounding 'Yam Kaz' with its innocent xylophones and melodies, plunging basslines and cosmic B3 radiance. 'Chak' is then a more beat driven cut with lots of textured synth lines and funky riffs. ‘Hun Batz' is a more experimental sounding cut with lots of layers of synths, keys, jumbled percussion and off time B4 chords 3 / 30 OPILEC MUSIC 12.30 € A. AVENUE - GOLDEN QUEEN OPCM12080 12" DISCO / ITALO / HOUSE Record Store Day UK With their next carefully curated release, the Opilec Music label begins to shine a light on the roots of Italo A1 with the reissue of an ultra rare and obscure synth Italo disco track by A. Avenue from 1984. This is a special Record Store Day 2016 release and of course, Opilec Music has remastered the original vocal and instrumental versions and here include I-Robots reconstructions and two Flemming Dalum's reworks. This is A2 a track many labels wanted, but only Opilec Music have been granted official rights to this cult re-release. Originally released on Discover Records, this is the only EP. A. Avenue (aka Dario Ancona and F. Feleppa) ever put out and it now fetches high prices on Discogs. Once you hear the music, you can understand B1 why: The lovably naive and innocent vocal version is seven minutes of cosmic and psychedelic grooves with perfectly retro melodies and pixelated chords that take you into outer space. Mid tempo drums are full of funk and drive and the two part vocal—one crisp and clean, one filtered and dehumanised—really B2 lend the whole thing a special robot feel that is second to none MELLOW MELLOW RIGHT 16.00 € SWEET CHARLES / GLEN JONES - ON YES IT'S YOU / I AM SOMEBODY MMRO009 7P DISCO / FUNK Record Store Day UK A1 Pressed on a 7 Inch Vinyl Picture Disc B1 KOLOUR LTD 13.30 € PONTCHARTRAIN - THE PONTCHARTRAIN EDITS KLRLTDRSD003 12" DISCO / EDITS Record Store Day / 500 copies UK A1 A2 It was too hard to resist another Record Store Day outing once Pontchartrain dropped these edits on us.
