One of the main challenges is to maintain optimum temperatures for plants while reducing carbon emissions. RBG Kew has committed to reducing carbon emissions by 25 per cent. Energy conservation measures used so far in RBG Kew’s buildings include: LED lighting Boiler load controllers and Voltage optimisation RBG Kew has taken advantage of the guaranteed energy savings and CO2 reduction and now has reduced their carbon footprint by 720 tonnes of CO2 per year - that’s equivalent to the annual emissions over 190 average-sized homes.
