ZIP0084-130212 WELCOME Oxfordshire Artweeks 2012 This year we are celebrating our 30th anniversary. Once again you can see, for free, spectacular art at hundreds of places across the county, in modern city studios and village venues, town houses, gardens and galleries, and even on a barge. For thirty years, Artweeks has offered everyone, whether a seasoned art enthusiast or an interested newcomer, a great opportunity to enjoy art in a relaxed and friendly way, meeting the makers, hearing their stories and seeing their creative talent in action. Browse the listings and our accompanying website where you’ll find more examples of artists’ work, and pick the exhibitions that most appeal to you or are closest to home. We hope that you are inspired by the pieces on show and find some treasures to take home with you. Amongst the many events that are taking place as part of the festival (see pp 11-20), photographer Simon Murison-Bowie captures the generation of art in Artists and Studios: Private Views an exhibition at Modern Art Oxford in April and The Mill in Banbury throughout May. Artweeks is a members’ organisation, run by a board, and we rely heavily on the help and dedication of many individuals and organisations. We’d like to thank both Hamptons International for their support this year, Andrew Martin (venue 297) for the cover image and the many other people and places (listed overleaf and too numerous to mention) whose dedication keep Artweeks fresh and vibrant.
