It is incorporated as a “corporation not for profit” in New Jersey. Membership: The New Jersey Ski & Snowboard Council does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin in club membership or any sponsored activity. Club membership is available to any active organized ski club in the State of New Jersey and adjacent areas upon application and meeting cer- tain requirements (By-Laws, membership list, and council meeting attendance). Contact any Council Officer for information. Meetings: Each member club elects or appoints a representative to the Council, who has one vote at general meetings. Individual club members are also encour- aged to attend Council meetings. Regular meetings of the Council are held the second Monday of each month, September through May, at the American Legion Hall, Clark, New Jersey, at 7:00 pm. Welcome to the 2015-16 season of the New Jersey Ski & Snow- board Council’s annual Guidebook. Last year, the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicted a cold winter across the USA with above normal snowfall. For us East Coast skiers & riders, there was little doubt to dispute their accuracy. The good news is that once again the Almanac is forecasting a cold winter with abundant snow. So, now is the time to start planning visits to your favorite ski resorts! I encourage you to acquaint yourself with the Council’s many member ski clubs located throughout the New Jersey – New York metropolitan area. Whether you are a skier, a board- er or other sports enthusiast, our clubs will welcome you to join in the fun and camaraderie that ski club membership offers. You are sure to find a club in your area whether you are a beginner or expert, single, married, or with a family. Many own or rent lodges near the major Eastern ski areas providing lodging at a fraction of the cost of staying at a commercial prop- erty or owning your own vacation home. The Council is in its 77th year providing member clubs with safety information, substantial lift ticket discounts, an early season tune-up day, yearly trips to major domestic and overseas ski destinations, an opportunity to purchase discounted trip insurance, and a chance to partici- pate in an organized race program. As a member of the National Ski Federation, we are also able to offer many additional benefits. I want to extend an invitation to any organized winter sports club to contact me or any member of the Executive Board if interested in joining the New Jersey Ski & Snowboard Council. The Council has historically supported organizations that provide opportunities for athletes with disabilities, including Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports and the Adaptive Sports Founda- tion. We have been an exceptionally proud gold sponsor of Staci Mannella, a partially sighted ski racer from Randolph, NJ. Staci, along with her guide Kim Seevers, successfully competed in the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi Russia, representing the USA in the Visually Impaired Women’s Slalom and Giant Slalom races. Last year, Staci took a one year hiatus from skiing to acclimate to college life at Dartmouth. Not surprisingly, she and Smidge, her guide dog, had an excellent year. In addition to pursuing her education, I’m happy to report she will resume
