The Catherine Berg Summer Musical Theatre will be presenting the musical “Mamma Mia” on July 16 and 17 at 7:30 PM in the Claude C. Deck Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for students and senior citizens and will be available at the door. The incredibly successful and wildly popular, “Mamma Mia,” production is sure to entertain with its high energy numbers and acting. The play is a jukebox musical written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, based on the songs of ABBA composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, former members of the band. The title of the musical is taken from the group's 1975 chart-topper "Mamma Mia". Twenty-year-old Sophie has big news. She is getting married to the love of her life. The problem is, who should walk her down the aisle since she took a peek at her mother's diary and realizes she has three possible dads. Sophie yearns to know more about her past, so she secretly sends each man a wedding invitation, hoping she can find out the truth. Her mother Donna, has plans of her own as she prepares for an elegant but simple wedding with the help of two old friends. The action takes place on the idyllic island of Greece and is jam packed with the delightful music of the 70's and 80's Swedish band, ABBA. What a way to say hello to summer and goodbye to a pandemic with songs like, "Dancing Queen," "Our Last Summer," "The Name of the Game," "Take a Chance on Me," "Thank You for the Music," and many more. .
