Previous meetings • The teams are meeting for the first time, and it is Beer-Sheva's maiden encounter with a Romanian club. • In their only past experience of Israeli opposition, FCSB played Maccabi Haifa in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League group stage. They lost 5-0 in Haifa – their heaviest defeat in a UEFA Cup or UEFA Europa League game – but won the return match 4-2 and went on to qualify for the round of 32. Form guide • UEFA Champions League qualifying included, Beer-Sheva have won all four of their European home games this season, scoring twice in each (three 2-1s and a 2-0). • FCSB have won both of their Group G matches – their best-ever start to a UEFA group stage campaign. • Beaten on away goals by Maribor in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, Beer-Sheva are back in the UEFA Europa League group stage for a second straight season, having made it to the round of 32 in 2016/17. • Defeated 5-1 on aggregate by Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, FCSB are competing in the UEFA Europa League group stage for a seventh time since the tournament assumed its current format in 2009/10 (a record they share with Salzburg). They have twice reached the knockout phase. Trivia and links • The journey from Bucharest to Beer Sheva is around 1,650km. • Beer-Sheva's Anthony Nwakaeme (Universitatea Cluj 2009–13) and Hatem Elhamed (Dinamo Bucureşti 2015) both played in Romania. • FCSB midfielder Mihai Pintilii played in Israel with Maccabi Tel-Aviv (2015–16). • Misses next match if booked: Loai Taha (Beer-Sheva). The coaches • Appointed Beer-Sheva coach in 2015, Barak Bakhar promptly steered the club to their first title in 40 years, and successfully defended that crown in 2016/17. A defender, he spent his playing heyday at Hapoel Kiryat Shmona, whom he later coached. • Nicolae Dică returned to FCSB as coach in May 2017, having served the club as a player in two previous spells, landing two titles – and a further one with CFR Cluj. The attacking midfielder also played in Italy, Greece and Turkey. 3 Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC - FCSB Thursday 19 October 2017 - 19.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit Turner Stadium, Beer Sheva Team facts Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC Formed: 1949 Nickname: The Camels UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 4 (2017) Israeli Cup: 1 (1997) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2016/17: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2015/16: UEFA Europa League second qualifying round 2014/15: UEFA Europa League second qualifying round 2013/14: did not take part in UEFA competition 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA competition 2009/10: did not take part in UEFA competition 2008/09: did not take part in UEFA competition 2007/08: did not take part in UEFA competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 2-0 three times, most recently v Ludogorets 26/07/17, UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first leg • Biggest away win 0-2: Internazionale Milano v Hapoel 15/09/16, UEFA Europa League group stage • Heaviest home defeat 0-7: Hapoel v Barcelona 12/09/95, UEFA Cup first round first leg • Heaviest away defeat 10-0: Roda v Hapoel 02/10/97, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup first round second leg UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 2-0: Hapoel v Tirana 22/08/95, UEFA Cup preliminary round second leg • Biggest away win 0-2: Internazionale Milano v Hapoel (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-7: Hapoel v Barcelona (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 5-0: Barcelona v Hapoel 26/09/95, first round second leg Fotbal Club FCSB Formed: 1947 Nickname: Roș-albaștrii (The Red and Blues) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • European Champion Clubs' Cup (1): 1986, (1989) • UEFA Super Cup (1): 1986 Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 26 (2015) 4 Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC - FCSB Thursday 19 October 2017 - 19.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit Turner Stadium, Beer Sheva Romanian Cup: 22 (2015) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2016/17: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2015/16: play-offs (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2014/15: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2013/14: UEFA Champions League group stage 2012/13: round of 16 2011/12: round of 32 2010/11: group stage 2009/10: group stage 2008/09: UEFA Champions League group stage 2007/08: UEFA Champions League group stage Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 6-0: FCSB v Aalborg 18/09/14, UEFA Europa League group stage 6-0: FCSB v Young Boys 03/10/79, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup first round second leg • Biggest away win 1-5: Sparta Praha v FCSB 07/09/88, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-5: FCSB v Manchester City 16/08/16, UEFA Champions League play-offs, first leg • Heaviest away defeat 5-0 on three occasions, most recently v Maccabi Haifa 20/10/11, UEFA Europa League group stage UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 6-0: FCSB v Aalborg (see above) • Biggest away win 1-4: Levadia Maardu v FCSB 26/08/99, qualifying round second leg 0-3 on three occasions, most recently v Spartak Trnava 09/08/12, third qualifying round second leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-5: FCSB v Stuttgart 22/11/12, UEFA Europa League group stage • Heaviest away defeat 5-0: Maccabi Haifa v FCSB (see above) 5 Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC - FCSB Thursday 19 October 2017 - 19.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit Turner Stadium, Beer Sheva Squad list Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC Current season All-time UCL UEL League UEL UEFA No. Player Nat.
