ITINERARY • Day 1 − Welcome to Cambodia You are met and greeted by our friendly representative upon arrival at Siem Reap International Airport then transferred to your hotel for check−in. (D) • Day 2 − Explore the lost city of the Khmer Empire This morning, explore the lost city of the Khmer Empire, starting with a trip to the South Gate of Angkor Thom, the Giant faces of the famous Bayon and Baphuon Temples, Elephants and Leper King Terraces, and the unforgettable jungle temple of Ta Prohm. Lunch is served at a local restaurant within the Angkor complex. Enjoy an afternoon visit to the Angkor Wat Temple where you are able to study its splendid architecture and bas−relief and witness the spectacular sunset in front of the temple. Dinner is served at a deluxe class restaurant with an entertaining Apsara classical dance show. Return to your hotel and stay overnight. (B, L, D) • Day 3 − Tour the Angkor temple complexes After breakfast, continue your Khmer heritage tour with a visit to Preah Khan, Neak Pean and East Mebon Temples. Continue to visit the red sandstone temple of Banteay Srey before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant. This afternoon, visit Banteay Samre Temple and spend some time at the local village of Pradak to learn the simple way that the local people produce natural palm sugar from palm juice (called Toek Thnot in Khmer). (B) • Day 5 − Visit the floating villages of the Tonle Sap This morning after breakfast, embark on an expedition to visit the unique floating and fishing villages on the Tonle Sap, which is one of the world's most productive bodies of fresh water. Each year, millions of fish come to spawn in the seasonally flooded forest surrounding the lake, attracting myriad water birds as well as people, who have settled in villages along the shores and who live with the rhythms of the water. This ecosystem of extraordinary biological richness and balance between humans and nature was recently designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Head back to town to visit Artisan d'Angkor and view fine examples of Khmer traditional stone and wood carving before enjoying lunch at a local first−class restaurant. As the country is affected by monsoons, it is hot and humid with an average temperature around 27°C (80°F). There are two distinct seasons: the Rainy Season and the Dry Season. However, the Dry Season is divided into two sub−seasons, cool and hot.
